, that that wasn't discussed? >> i would have liked for jim lehrer to talk about it because we are facing what our secretary of defense, president obama's secretary of defense has described as a devastating impact it our national defense if this sequestration goes through. for the benefit of our viewers, it was a biproduct of the select committee that didn't succeed. and so this draconian cuts in both defense and nondefense is supposed to take place on the first of january. it would devastate our defense. we need the president to come and sit down with us. we have said, mr. president, come and lead. you are the commandener chief. that's your most important responsibility. please, sit down with us. we can avoid this sequestration, which could devastate the defense of our nation. we really have asked him to do that. and his response has been that he would do that if we agree to raise taxes to start with. that's not the way bill clinton negotiated. that's not the way -- that ronald reagan negotiated. that's know the way i have ever negotiated. >> greta: you imagine president clinton, his name came up

go along with jim lehrer. >> does anyone think it's strange that juan is defending pbs? >> i'm not saying. >> that's it for us, thanks for watching, have a great weekend, bye. >> did mitt romney's post debate victory hit a speed bump with the unemployment rate? we'll break down what the numbers mean. this is special report. good evening, i'm bret baier. president obama is hailing the jobs report, showing a drop from 8.1% to 7.8, as a sign the country has come too far to turn back now. his republican challenger says the new numbers are not the sign of a true recovery, in fact, he says they're telling a far different story. the government's household survey says that 873,000 people entered the work force. but the employer survey found 114,000 new jobs created, 10,000 of those in government. so, the difference, about 760,000 are apparently not full-time stable jobs, what's known as the real unemployment mark, the unemployed and those too discouraged to look for work remains unchanged at 14.7%. white house correspondent wendell goler begins our coverage of the report and the spi

blamed john kerry, the debate prep guy. david axelrod blamed jim lehrer. al gore blamed the altitude. but nobody -- nobody blamed the president for being unprepared and outclassed by mitt romney last night. >> dana, take us deep into the psychology. what was going on? he looked like a man defeated. >> he sort of faded into the background initially. then i thought maybe it will get better. at the one hour mark, i thought wow, this is over. i thought romney was very bold. but he was also something different that he was fresh. and there is a huge gulf between the man that had been painted in the media and by the obama campaign for the last seven or eight months. and then the person they saw last night. that's why i think it was so effective for mitt romney because people were so surprised. wait, like who is this guy? this is not the guy we thought he was. and so he had a great debate. incumbents presidents usually don't do well on the first debate in their election year. so obama will have a couple more chances. no doubt, there is only one person in america who thinks he won the debate.
